OHAKUNE LODGE

Our Ohakune Lodge is a short 10min walk (3min by car) to Ohakune Town Centre. The lodge is surrounded by vast green park surroundings with good views of the mountain.

There is plenty of parking outside the lodge down a private driveway.

DIRECTIONS 

NORTH TO SOUTH (starting in Auckland)

1. Follow State Highway (SH) 1 (SH1) south bound and take the 39 exit joining SH 39

2. In Otorohanga at the T Junction, turn right onto SH 3 (signs for New Plymouth)

3. Turn left onto SH 4 and keep going for 138km (1hour 40min)

4. Drive straight through the National Park Village.

5. Turn Left onto SH 49 sign posted Ohakune. When you arrive in Ohakune drive straight through the town past the BP station on your right and head 2 mins out of town. Just past the Rocky Mountain Chalets, turn right into Turoa Dr.

6. At the roundabout take the second left to stay on Turoa Dr.

7. Take the first left into Karo St.

8. Drive around the round-a-bout and look for the Graduates sign. This driveway is shared with another lodge, so veer right up until the end of the drive and find a carpark.

SOUTH TO NORTH (starting Wellington)

1. Follow State Highway (SH) 1 (SH1) North bound for approx. 264km (3 hours 24min) until you get to Waiouru.

2. At Waiouru turn left onto SH49 for 19min until you reach the 70 OHAKUNE speed sign. Take the next left into Turoa Dr.

3. At the roundabout take the second left to stay on Turoa Dr.

4. Take the first left into Karo St.

5. Drive around the round-a-bout and look for the Graduates sign. This driveway is shared with another lodge, so veer right up until the end of the drive and find a carpark.

WHAKAPAPA LODGE

Our Whakapapa Lodge is on mountain so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended during the winter months. 
Before you start your journey please check the status of the Bruce Road from the Whakapapa Village to the Grads lodge. 
Please plan ahead to avoid disappointment.

DIRECTIONS 

NORTH TO SOUTH (starting in Auckland)

1. Follow State Highway (SH) 1 (SH1) south bound and take the 39 exit joining SH39

2. In Otorohanga at the T Junction,  turn right onto SH 3 (signs for New Plymouth)

3. Turn left onto SH 4 and keep going for 121km (1hour 27min)

4. When you arrive in the National Park Village Turn Left onto SH47 sign posted 47 Turangi

5. After 9km (6min) turn right onto SH48 and drive until you reach the top of The Bruce carpark. 

6. From the Bruce carpark you will need to walk up to the Grads Lodge (on mountain)

SOUTH TO NORTH (starting Wellington)

1. Follow State Highway (SH) 1 (SH1) North bound for approx. 264km (3 hours 24min) until you get to Waiouru.

2. At Waiouru turn left onto SH 39 and drive through Ohakune until you reach SH4.  Turn right

3. Drive on SH4 for approx. 26km (18min) 

4. When you arrive in the National Park Village Turn right onto SH47 sign posted 47 Turangi

5. After 9km (6min) turn right onto SH48 and drive until you reach the top of The Bruce carpark. 

6. From the Bruce carpark you will need to walk up to the Grads Lodge (on mountain)
